Natural stone 'a timeless addition to bathrooms'
UK property owners planning an overhaul of their bathroom have been advised that natural stone offers a timeless beauty and elegance that is hard to match.
Sean Cochrane of Cochrane Design in association with the BIID said Brits do not have to spend a fortune to create a bespoke and beautiful bathroom, with the development of more natural stone options over recent years meaning the costs associated with this material have come down.
An array of stone products are now available and this means homeowners can choose a stone basin, tile or other fitting that complements their overall design with ease.
He commented: "People are still spending a good deal on bathrooms as they are regarded higher and higher on the list of house priorities. They bring a value to the house but it's not a matter of just throwing money at them."
Mr Cochrane added that clever design and use of products can mean Brits are easily able to create a bathroom with the wow factor, but still stick to their budgets.
This year is set to be the year of natural stone, he stated, with marbles, honed slates, Carrara and clean limestone all set to be exceedingly popular with designers and those carrying out a renovation.
Philiep Caryn, communications and sponsorship manager at Quick-Step, recently argued practicality should continue to play a key role in design thinking when it comes to a bathroom overhaul, with flooring one area where attention should be held.
Indeed, installing a nonporous, non-slip surface is exceedingly important for ease of cleaning and safety in bathrooms and therefore laminates may be another option for Brits.
He commented: "Cleaning and maintaining your floor is obviously important, as it can help to prolong its life and improve its appearance over time. One of the major benefits of laminate flooring is its ease of maintenance."
