New Sustainability Leader joins Knauf UK & Ireland
Knauf UK and Ireland is delighted to announce the appointment of Lucy Hall as Sustainability Leader. Knauf is committed to a high standard of sustainability and Lucy will partner with all areas of the business from manufacturing to sales to develop a robust sustainability strategy.
Lucy previously held the role of Head of Sustainability for ISG Ltd and has a wealth of experience and awards in the areas of sustainability and innovation. Her expertise will help Knauf to advance its sustainability agenda at a time when product manufacturers are shouldering increasing environmental responsibility.
Discussing her new role, Lucy commented: “The emergence of a new global attitude towards sustainability is encouraging and it’s important we don’t lose that momentum. I’m passionate about maximising the potential for more sustainable ways of operating within the construction sector and am excited about helping Knauf effect those changes.”
Having worked in the construction industry throughout her career, Lucy’s interest in sustainability was piqued while working on a large refurbishment project in London fifteen years ago.
Lucy explains: “I worked on a project where we were spending a lot of time and money getting rid of, what I considered to be, reusable materials. I contacted local community groups to find one that might want them, and then persuaded my team to deliver the materials to the groups to use in their community projects, rather than throwing them away.
“At the time this was pioneering and in terms of sustainability it was so successful that I realised I had a model that could be rolled out across the whole company. My career in sustainability was born.”
Lucy is an associate member of AIEMA, qualified in BREEAM, NEBOSH and is an IS014001 Internal Auditor.
