Knauf does an Engage Awards double
Knauf is delighted to have been selected as a finalist in the Engage Awards 2020 for two categories, ‘Great Place to Work’ and ‘Best Employee Wellbeing Strategy’.
The Engage Awards are recognised by the industry as the only Awards programme celebrating excellence in both Customer and Employee Engagement. Now in their fourth year they shine a light on organisational excellence.
In a year when the awards received a record number of entries, Knauf was shortlisted for the awards in recognition of its creation of a working environment that improves employee engagement and experience.
The organisation strives to ensure that every employee feels like part of the Knauf family. Employee wellbeing is at the heart of the business to such an extent that the Company’s robust health and safety training saved one employee’s life when he collapsed at work.
Knauf’s factory staff enjoy a shift pattern that enables them time to adequately recharge between shifts returning revitalised and re-energised, something not offered at other firms.
Knauf also recognises it’s often the little things that have the biggest impact such as buying the whole workforce an ice cream on a hot day or providing an outdoor work area for summer meetings. Furthermore, Knauf encourages employees to support their local community with paid community days.
The Company was also selected for its forward-thinking attitude to mental health awareness. It has trained staff from across the business as mental health first aiders, and campaigned both internally and externally to raise awareness of mental health (with a course attended by all employees). Knauf has its own on-site independent qualified counsellor for face-to-face support as well as a 24 hour help line.
These steps have seen absenteeism and staff turnover decrease year on year. Perhaps the best testament to the Company is that 25 employees celebrate their 30 year anniversaries at Knauf this year.
The Engage Awards Final will take place at a virtual ceremony on Thursday 3rd December.
