Over the course of the year, Knauf will be speaking to women across the business as part of our Women in Construction series. Our first blog comes from Emma Delaney, Knauf UK’s HR & Sustainability Director.
I’ve been with Knauf for just over a year now and I’m loving every second. I had previously worked in the construction industry but left to go work in another sector for a while. However, after a few years it became clear I really missed working in construction and wanted to get back into it. It’s a career like no other – you can see the tangible difference you make in the world around you every day.
It might sound a cliché, but the best thing about working at Knauf is definitely the people. It really feels like we are a family. It’s a very exciting time for Knauf and I’m so glad to be a part of it.
Since joining Knauf, I have been focused on looking after the wellbeing of all our employees and curating a generous benefits package to encourage staff retention. I also oversee the hiring of new additions to the team and I am very proud Knauf now has a gender-balanced Senior Leadership Team.
This year Knauf are also looking to set up a professional network aimed at boosting the number of women in the construction industry. We have lots of exciting things planned throughout the year, including a panel event Knauf’s Clerkenwell showroom. Women belong in all areas of the construction industry from the top floor to the shop floor: I can’t wait to put some of our fantastic ideas into action!
