Knauf Secrets: Fill & Finish Light– Ready-mixed ready when you are

Knauf takes the hassle out of finishing with the full range of ready-mixed finishing materials. The Knauf range of ready-mixed products are quicker to install and provide high-quality finishes. In this Knauf Secrets blog we are taking a look at Knauf Fill & Finish Light.

Knauf Fill & Finish Light is an easy-to-sand jointing compound for bedding tapes and finishing joints in drywall partitions and ceilings, and brings with it a multitude of benefits.

An air-drying machine or hand-applied and ready-mixed product which comes in 5kg and 20kg tubs and offers an impressive 12-month shelf life, it can cover up to 11.25m² per 5kg and up to 45m² per 20kg tub, and typically takes 12-24 hours to dry depending on site conditions. Cleanup is easier too; simply put the lid back on the recycled plastic tub and use on your next project. Once all of the material has been used, the tub is recyclable, as part of Knauf’s commitment to the circular economy.

Knauf Fill & Finish, known as 'green top', is a medium density product which can cover 30m². Known as 'blue top' Knauf Fill & Finish Light is a lighter weight density product which can give extra coverage; 45m² per 20kg tub. Both give a superior quality finish. It is down to installer preference for on workability.

As little mixing is required compared to powdered jointing products Fill and Finish compound are fast to apply straight from the tub without having to introduce water to site, as well as easy to sand for a smooth joint finish that is less prone to chips and cracks. Knauf Finishing Products should be applied to Knauf Plasterboard to ensure system performance warranty (GPDA’s Product Compatibility Statement) and are included in the Knauf System Performance Warranty.

Designed to be used alongside Knauf Fill & Finish Light are Knauf paper-faced corner beads known as Dallas, for the creating neat and sturdy external corners, and Las Vegas, for internal corners.

Knauf Joint tape is recommended to create the strongest joints, the paper-based tape has a centreline for easy folding and can be used for hand or machine application alongside both Fill & Finish compounds as well as the powdered jointing range.
