All three of the major providers of warranties for new build homes – NHBC, Premier Guarantee and LABC – have banned Magnesium Oxide (MgO) board from new build homes, leaving housebuilders to find alternative solutions fast.
The Knauf solution focuses on its AQUAPANEL® range, developed specifically for use in external applications, and for challenging wet and humid interior conditions.
Knauf AQUAPANEL® Cement Board Outdoor is a tough cement board for exterior use with a Portland cement and aggregate core, and coated glass fibre mesh embedded in the back and front surfaces. It can be used as a substrate for exterior render – including Knauf Renders – or other surface finishes such as paint or brick slips.
Stable, flexible and extremely strong, AQUAPANEL® Outdoor has a Class A1 fire rating in accordance with EN 13501. It can withstand the weathering effects of wind, rain and snow, and offers the reassurance of BBA certification when used as part of the Knauf AQUAPANEL® Exterior System.
Knauf AQUAPANEL® Cement Board Indoor is a tile-backer cement board which is highly resistant to water and mould. It can be bent to accommodate design curves and is extensively used in areas such as swimming pools, bathrooms and wet rooms.
When used as part of a complete Knauf system, AQUAPANEL® installations will be covered by the comprehensive Knauf warranty.
