Key Facts
General Information
Knauf Brio 18WF and 23WF are high quality composite flooring systems using gypsum fibreboard technology. These boards can be installed and ready for foot traffic in a fraction of the time of traditional wet screeds. The Brio WF is formed from 1100-1200kg/m3 gypsum fibre board with a 10mm acoustic resilient layer which is bonded to the underside of the board and formed from 250kg/m3 wood fibre for enhanced acoustic performance.
- Thickness: 28mm and 33mm total, respectively
- Fixings: the fixings are the same as would be used for the non-WF Brio panels and do not penetrate into the wood fibre layer as they are purposely designed to be 1mm shorter than the panel thickness
- Impact resistant surface
- Fixed board edge for robustness
- Enhanced acoustic performance
- Quick to install
- Able to receive floor finish after 24 hours
Application
For use over solid substrates and where additional acoustic considerations are being made.
Compliance
- BS EN 15283-2
FAQs- Can I use this over a pedestal system or over joists?
No, the Brio boards are non-structural and as such must be used on a solid subsrate. (For pedestal, joist and batten systems, see Knauf GIFAfloor high density floor panels.)
- Can I use over UFH?
No, we do not recommend over this as the wood fibre (WF) layer will be detrimental to the performance; we would recommend using a suitable resilient layer beneath any UFH for acoustic purposes, and then using the standard Brio 18 or 23 on top of the UFH itself, to optimise performance.
- What is the weight of these?
For the Brio 18WF: 22.3kg/m2 (Brio: 19.8kg/m2, WF: 2.5kg/m2 ).
For the Brio 23WF: 27.8kg/m2 (Brio: 25.3kg/m2 , WF: 2.5kg/m2 ).
- What loading are these suitable for?
A 2.0kN point load (25 x 25mm), or 3kN area load.
- What do I use to cut this board?
We recommend a diamond tipped blade on a circular saw with a dust extractor. Details are available upon request.
- Do I need to fix the boards together?
Yes. To ensure a smooth finished surface, Knauf Brio Joint Adhesive and specialist Knauf Brio Screw fixings are required. The screws ensure that the boards do not lift or move whilst the adhesive cures.
- Can I use vinyl over these boards?
Yes, but to prepare the boards we advise that a thin layer [2mm] of latex screed or Knauf N410 is applied over the board surface first.
